IT Operations & Cloud Engineer

Role & Responsibilities 
  • Monitor and maintain the performance, availability and security of cloud-based applications and services.
  • Develop and maintain automation scrips and tools to streamline deployment and management of IT infrastructure across a variety of virtualisation and cloud platforms.
  • Engineer and administer IT infrastructure platforms.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies.
  • Provide IT infrastructure technical support and assistance to internal teams.

Key Technical Skills/Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with Linux server environments.
  • Experience with automation, application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Creating and maintaining “Infrastructure As Code” using tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Salt or Terraform.
  • Experience with log aggregation tools such as ELK, Graylog or Splunk.
  • Strong understanding of virtualisation & cloud computing concepts, including virtualization, networking, security, and storage.
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with a programming/scripting language such as Python or PowerShell.

Key Non-Technical Skills/Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to complete complex tasks methodically, with an eye for detail.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about IT.
  • Excellent organisation, task prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to operate independently in a remote role.

Desirable

  • Experience with VMWare ESXi & vCenter environments.
  • Experience with OpenStack or public cloud technologies.
  • Experience with RedHat or binary compatible OS environments.
  • Experience with Atlassian JIRA, Bamboo and Confluence.

Working Conditions

  • Participate in an on-call roster.
  • Occasional travel to company locations if/when required.
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours when required to support critical systems & infrastructure.
