Gibtelecom 3G service upgrade works

Gibtelecom will be carrying out essential maintenance works to its 3G mobile network on Wednesday 21st May 2014.  The upgrades will commence at 01:00 in the morning and will last no more than 30 minutes.

During this time customers using Gibtelecom 3G voice and data services will experience some intermittent disruption. Customers requiring assistance should call the Gibtelecom helpdesk free on 194 which is available 24 hours a day. Gibtelecom’s GSM (2G) services will not be affected by these works.

Gibtelecom apologises for any inconvenience these essential works may cause and will endeavour to minimise disruption to customers. Customers requiring further information please call Gibtelecom’s 24/7 Network Operations Centre on 20052200.

 

Gibtelecom Major Telephone Service Outage within South District

Gibtelecom apologises that some of its fixed line customers within parts of the South District experienced interruption to their fixed line telephone service today.

Following the heavy overnight downpour one of the Company’s remote equipment rooms in the South District experienced some exceptional water ingress. The problem triggered alarms which were picked up by Gibtelecom’s Network Operations Centre, who immediately called out the Company’s  engineers and technicians to attend to the fault.

Gibtelecom’s Technical Director, Xavier Bado, said “we apologise for the inconvenience caused to customers. Our staff have been working on site since early this morning, and we managed to achieve partial restoration by midday with full restoration of around 500 lines by 5:00 this evening”.

Gibtelecom’s personnel remain on standby monitoring the situation. Should any customers experience any further problems they should call the company’s 24/7 call centre on Freephone 193 or telephone 20052200.

The fixed line equipment room is one of twelve located around the Rock, which are all connected together via fibre optic cables. Gibtelecom’s mobile and internet services were not impacted by this fault.

Gibtelecom broadband upgrade - infrastructure works

Following the recently announced bandwidth speed increases, Gibtelecom will be carrying out essential works to its broadband infrastructure to implement this upgrade from midnight on Friday 3 to midnight on Sunday 4 March 2012. During this time customers may experience a brief disconnection of their internet connectivity whilst using Gibtelecom’s services. In some cases the customer’s router may require resetting (turning the router power off and on again).

Gibtelecom internet infrastructure works

Gibtelecom will be carrying out essential works to its ADSL infrastructure between 02:00 and 06:00 on Friday 7 October 2011. During this time customers may experience intermittent problems with their internet connectivity whilst using Gibtelecom’s services.

Gibtelecom closing early on 5 October 2010

Gibtelecom would like to inform customers that we will be closing our Customer Service Centre at 15/21 John Mackintosh Square at 16:00 hours on Tuesday 5 October 2010, as a sign of respect during the funeral service of the late Bishop Emeritus Charles Caruana.

Normal opening hours of 09:00 to 18:00 hours will resume on Wednesday.

Gibtelecom launches new website!

Gibtelecom launched its new website www.gibtele.com on 15 June 2010.
